CIWC Open Positions


CIWC Trip Leader

Responsibilities:

  • Outline trip, write trip description, and submit trip proposal for approval
  • Gather cost estimates and other details from vendors
  • Communicate with trip attendees
  • Manage allocated trip budget
  • Lead group during trip with an eye on attendee safety

Requirements:

  • Must be a current club member in good standing
  • Certified in Wilderness First Aid (or higher) training
  • Attend annual CIWC trip leader orientation training

CIWC President (Elected)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee club activities and collaborate in planning and scheduling the club’s functions throughout the year

  • Recruit board members and chairs, working with the board to appoint members to non-elected positions

  • Oversee all CIWC contractual agreements (insurance, liability, third party, etc.)

  • Serve as spokesperson for the club

  • Preside over board meetings and quarterly general membership meetings

Requirements:

  • 1+ years experience as a CIWC member
  • Must be a current club member in good standing

Interested in becoming our President?  

Vice President (Elected)

Responsibilities:

            • Assist Backpacking, Cycling, and Paddling Chairs to establish the yearly event calendar and trip leader training 
            • Assist Meetup chair and Social Chair with overall direction and planning events (picnic, Holiday Party, quarterly meetings)
            • Liaison with Holliday Park as the club's primary contact
            • Assume the role and duties of President if the President is not available

Requirements:

            • 1+ years experience as a CIWC member
            • Must be a current club member in good standing

Backpacking Chair (Elected)

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit trip leaders to organize, plan, lead backpacking trips
  • Serve as a mentor for members new to leading trips
  • Assist in planning trip destinations, trip write-ups, and cost calculations
  • Coordinate backpacking trip schedule with other chairs
  • Ensure trip forms and documentation are completed
  • Compile and update trip information for promotion and awareness

Requirements:

  • Must be a current club member in good standing

Day Hike/Events Chair (Elected)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the club’s process for day events to attract new members and engage existing
  • Utilize the club's Meetup platform to promote the club and its events
  • Assist in planning and supporting day events/outings

Requirements:

  • Must be a current club member in good standing

Interested in becoming our Day Hike/Events Chair?  

Beginner Backpacking Chair (Elected)

Responsibilities:

  • Identify committee to conduct annual beginner backpacking class

  • Work with the committee to plan class including date, agenda, room reservation, presenters, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain/follow up with beginner participants to answer questions about equipment, club, etc.
  • Help educate new leaders on what to cover during a beginner backpacking trip

Requirements:

  • Must be a current club member in good standing

Interested in becoming our Beginner Backpacking Chair?  

Equipment Chair (Appointed)

Responsibilities:

  • Establish guidelines and procedures for storage site access and use of club gear
  • Maintain an inventory and status of checked out gear
  • Work with owner of the storage site for gate access, lock and key control
  • Make new gear purchases or repairs/upgrades when needed

Requirements:

  • 1+ years experience as a CIWC member
  • Must be a current club member in good standing

Interested in becoming our Social Chair?  

Membership Chair (Appointed)

Responsibilities:

            • Facilitate membership growth and retention
            • Meet and greet prospective members
            • Manage the club's web-based membership software
            • Maintain and update membership statuses
            • Promote and facilitate membership renewals
            • Provide data and reports on membership when requested
            • Provide greeting assistance and manage event sign-in
            • Provide troubleshooting and support for membership processes

Requirements:

            • 1+ years experience as a CIWC member
            • Must be a current club member in good standing

Appointed roles: Selected by the current board members
Elected roles: Voted in by CIWC membership at end of the year
Member in good standing: Current on all dues/payments and adheres to the CIWC code of conduct
