We will meet at 4:00 am Wednesday July 31,2019 in Indy and drive to Leland, MI to get on the ferry at 1:00 pm. 6.5 hour drive. Board the ferry and take hour long boat ride to North Manitou Island. After meeting the Ranger we will start our hike. We will have three campsites and hiking will be 4-6 miles a day. The loop is 13.5 miles but there will be opportunity for exploring and side hikes.
To really enjoy and appreciate the history of the island I recommend picking up copy and reading the book Between Sunrise and Sunset by Rita Hadra Rusco. She lived on the island and knew many of the people and history of the island.
Island is very scenic and there are some of the homes and structures we will find along the way. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. This is not high mileage trip so come and enjoy the island and kickback and enjoy time on the beach. You will need to bring your own lunches while on the island. All breakfast and dinners while on the island are included. Ferry tickets and all park fees are also included.
All trip participants must fill out and submit a CIWC Medical Form and Long Waiver Form.
