This will be an overnight in the Morgan Monroe State Forest. We will meet Saturday morning for introductions and backpack to our campsite approximately 1-2 miles from parking area. We will set up camp and eat lunch/snacks before heading out for a hike, mileage will be dependent upon the group. Upon returning to camp, we will learn basic backpacking/camping in the wilderness and work together to make dinner, learning about the different pieces of equipment, hanging food, tying knots and other miscellaneous items. We will make breakfast Sunday morning before heading out for the day.
After breakfast, we will pack up, using leave no trace techniques and hike back to the trailhead.
Don’t have gear? That's no problem as CIWC has tents and other gear you can borrow and we share some club-provided group gear, such as stoves and water filters. Suggested gear list will be provided your trip leader.
Dinner and breakfast are provided. Participants should bring their trail lunch and snacks.
All trip participants must fill out and submit a CIWC Medical Form and Long Waiver Form.
